Sharjah World Book Capital
2019 | Product & Experiential Design
Packaging experience designed for the 2019 Sharjah World Book Capital Festival to celebrate the UAE’s National Day. Our key objective for this project was to highlight the festival and celebrate reading. To do so, we have taken inspiration from the product housed within the packaging and applied concepts that relate to reading, throughout the design.
The package was created to be gifted to selected individuals from the Sharjah World Book Capital. The product, for which the package had been created, is a stainless steel product inspired by the various forts that are iconic to UAE’s architectural history. The product had been designed to function as a bookend as well as a candle holder.
The package contains a die cut of the UAE’s pledge of allegiance and the bookend function of the gift is showcased by placing a book-like structure in-between the two parts of the product, making the product relevant to both, the festival and the National Day.
The use of a variety of debossing techniques, colored foils, and textured paper throughout the package adds a level of sophistication to the overall look & unboxing experience.
